A clerk at a Kentucky State Park has been charged with robbery after initially telling police he was the victim.
Shawn Knipp, 19, of Olive Hill was charged with theft by unlawful taking. Police said Knipp was a clerk at the Carter Caves State Resort Park.
Kentucky State Police said the clerk reported a robbery at the resort on Aug. 15, according to a news release from State Police. Police said the clerk told authorities that he was assaulted and robbed. Detectives said they found several inconsistencies with his statement and evidence at the scene.
The case was presented to a Carter County grand jury, and Knipp was indicted. Knipp is being held at the Carter County Detention Center.
