There will be lots of happy boys and girls at Christmas this year thanks to lots of generous folks in our area.
Parents stopped by Calvary Baptist Church on Bigley Avenue Monday to pick up toys for kids. The toys were donated to Union Mission.
The toy donations for Union Mission this year included thousands of toys that were donated for the “Tower of Toys” toy drive organized by Eyewitness News that wrapped up Dec. 14. Folks really stepped up for the drive this year, donating a record amount of toys. Organizers said the previous record netted hundreds of toys, but this year they estimated thousands of toys were collected.
Some of the biggest donors to the “Tower of Toys” drive were the South Charleston Police Department, $750; employees of Kanawha Metro 911, $750; viewer J.R. Bailey, $700; WCHS/Fox 11, $500; and Charleston Department Store, $300.
