5 homes were destroyed in the massive natural gas explosion in Sissonville , we caught up with one family staying at a local hotel.
Shirley McMillion and her husband DJ are calling this hotel room their home for the being. All that's left of their home is gutted shell in Sissonville.
Shirley says she and her husband went with their daughter to a Christmas party. Shirley says she works overnights and is usually home sleeping around 1 o'clock,
but Tuesday her daughter insisted she go.
During that party, word spread quickly of the explosion. The pipeline runs right under their home.
While it's painful to see her home destroyed, Shirley says it is replaceable.
Currently Columbia Gas is paying for their food and a place to stay.
While the next few days, perhaps even weeks will be rough, Shirley says she still has her family and that's what is most important.
The Red and Blue Club and Hoover Cheerleaders are having a spaghetti dinner to benefit the McNeely family. The McNeely's are Shirley McMillion's daughter and grandchildren. The dinner will be this Sunday from 1 until 4 at Hoover in the cafeteria.
Dinner is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids under 10. All of the proceeds will be donated to the McNeely family.
