A 14-year-old girl who was crossing a street in the Dunbar area was struck by a vehicle.
The girl was crossing Fairlawn Avenue about 6:20 a.m. Monday when the driver of a vehicle did not see her and struck her at very low speed, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. The teen was transported to Thomas Memorial Hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
The pickup truck had been traveling east on Fairlawn Avenue from Finney Hollow Road and had come to stop at the intersection. Kanawha County Deputy C.E. O’Neal said the driver did not see the pedestrian who had already begun to cross Fairlawn Avenue.
O’Neal said it was raining at the time of the incident, and no citations have been issued.
