An Alum Creek man was arrested after he allegedly stole a license plate off a vehicle.
Christopher White, 36, of Bellmont Drive was charged with transferring and receiving stolen property and not having insurance on his Geo Tracker, according to a news release from Capt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. J.H. Thaxton was on routine patrol at 10:30 p.m. Friday on Childress Road near Davis Creek when his electronic license plate reader notified him he had just passed a stolen license plate. Thaxton turned and began following a Geo Tracker and stopped the vehicle moments later.
The release said White, the driver of the Tracker, told Thaxton he stole the license plate from a car parked at Charleston Area Medical Center Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Charleston the day before.
White was taken to Kanawha County Magistrate Court and released on a personal recognizance bond.
