ACCIDENT VICTIM DIES
Driver Comes Forward In Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident

The driver of a Buick Rendezvous involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist has come forward.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the identity of the driver is not being released at this time. The investigation has been turned over to the Scioto County Prosecutor's Office to make a decision on charges.

On Monday, Shawn Hamilton, 22, was hit by the vehicle while riding his bicycle. Hamilton later died from his injuries.




A bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle that sped off, died on Monday.

Shawn R. Hamilton, 22, died from the injuries he sustained during a hit-and-run accident in Wheelersburg, Ohio. The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is trying to locate the driver, a news release said. Troopers believe the vehicle is a 2002-2007 Buick Rendezvous, based on the debris that was left behind. Troopers don't know the color of the truck but say it will have damage to the right-side headlight, fender and mirror.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 740-354-2888.




A bicyclist was seriously injured after a car hit him and left the scene.

The accident happened at 6 p.m. Monday in Wheelersburg, Ohio. The bicyclist was riding on SR 522 when a vehicle traveling southbound hit him, according to a news release from the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The victim was forced off the road and thrown from his bicycle. The vehicle did not stop, the release said. The victim was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital by helicopter. His name is not being released at this time.

Police believe the vehicle that hit the bicyclist was a truck. They believe the vehicle will have damage to the right-side headlight, fender and mirror.
