The lockdown at Cedar Grove Elementary School has been lifted.
Missy Ruddle, assistant superintendent for Kanawha County middle schools, said the lockdown was lifted about 10:30 a.m. Police believed there was no longer a threat at the school.
Officials initially had received a report that a parent was bringing a gun to school Tuesday morning. School officials placed the school on lockdown as a precaution.
Ruddle did not know if the person had been found or what the status of the police investigation was.
