A man has been charged with drunken and reckless driving after an accident in which his vehicle struck a school bus and his passenger was killed, deputies said.
Lewis Wendall Perry, 40, of Wilsondale was charged after an accident that happened in the Breeden area on Nov. 7, when Perry's vehicle allegedly crossed the center line of the road and hit a school bus, deputies said. No children were on the bus at the time of the crash. The passenger in Perry's car, Randolph Marcum, died in that accident.
Deputies said they found prescription pills and alcoholic beverage containers at the scene of the accident. Perry tested positive for marijuana and Xanax, when he was drug tested at a local hospital later that day, deputies said.
Perry was in the Southwestern Regional Jail Thursday on $52,500 full-cash bond.
