The West Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office has determined a fire that started in a Huntington apartment complex was caused by an electrical issue.
The fire started Wednesday afternoon in the basement of the LeSalle Apartment complex at 1024 Eighth St.
Residents in six apartments were evacuated while fire crews put out the blaze. They will not be allowed to return until the city's electrical inspector and fire marshal have deemed it safe.
Huntington firefighters were working Wednesday afternoon to extinguish a fire reported at an apartment complex.
The fire was reported about 1:45 p.m. at 1024 Eighth St. A maintenance worker reportedly smelled smoke in the basement of the complex. Residents from the six apartments were evacuated.
