Funeral arrangements have been announced for a Mingo County paramedic who died after a crash over the weekend.
A funeral service for Chris Staggs is scheduled 1 p.m. Thursday at the Williamson Field House. Fire departments and emergency services personnel from across the state of West Virginia are expected to attend. Visitation will be held at the Field House from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Staggs was driving an ambulance Saturday afternoon in the Williamson area when he apparently suffered a seizure that caused him to lose control of the vehicle and crash. He died at an area hospital Saturday evening, after suffering another seizure.
Elsie Blankenship, the other paramedic riding in the ambulance at the time of the crash, received minor injuries.

A sad story out of Mingo County after an accident involving an ambulance has left a paramedic dead.
Chris Staggs had a seizure while driving an ambulance in Williamson Saturday. That seizure caused him to lose control of the ambulance he was driving and wreck. It appears Staggs' vehicle hit a wall, went up on the sidewalk, hit the railing of a church and then hit the front of a business.
Staggs was taken to the hospital, but he died Saturday night after he suffered another seizure.
Staggs' brother in-law, Joey Carey, who also was his boss, said, "It's been tough. He was liked. A model employee, never missed work, just one of these guys everyone wanted to work with so it's been sad here."
Elsie Blankenship, a paramedic who was the passenger in the ambulance, received minor injuries.
