As you are preparing to gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, we have been encouraging you to give thanks for those who serve and protect our great state.
Wednesday marks the final day of our "In-Vest" initiative to see that the brave men and women have the bulletproof vests that could potentially save their lives. The drive wraps up during the Eyewitness News newscast at 6 p.m. Eyewitness News Reporter Leslie Rubin will be joined at the station by deputies from across the state to unveil the grand total that has been raised.
Charleston law firm Preston and Salango LLC donated $1,500 Wednesday to "In-Vest."
On Tuesday, Samantha Jones, the widow of fallen Charleston Patrolman Jerry Jones, donated $500 in memory of her late husband. Jones was killed during a shootout after a police chase in Kanawha County in September 2009.
Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #78 in Harrison County also made a donation of $600 Tuesday.
Eyewitness News and the West Virginia Sheriffs’ Association joined efforts to challenge area businesses, residents and community leaders to donate to “In-Vest.”
Act now and help protect the protectors. Donations can be made at any City National Bank in the entire state, or you can drop off or mail donations to our Charleston studio (WCHS TV, 1301 Piedmont Road, Charleston, WV 25301) or to our Huntington studio (WCHS TV, 1002 Fourth Ave., Huntington, WV 25701). Checks should be made payable to “In-Vest.”
