Hundreds of hunters will take to the woods as gun season begins.
And while they'll be anxious to to bag that buck, hunters should take time to remember the basics when it comes to safety.
The first safety concern is apparel.
"Everyone should be wearing blaze orange. It's very important that you're visible in the woods," said veteran hunter, Randy Estep.
Cabela's manager, Ryan Hutson, also said it's important to remember that "for deer hunting season, you need to have 400 square inches of blaze orange on you."
And for the first timers, the trick for opening day is to not get trigger happy.
"Be careful. There's going to be thousands of hunters in the woods tomorrow. Please make sure you are looking at your target and you identify what you're wanting to shoot before you shoot it," said Hutson.
But gun safety goes for everyone. Huston also said to "always point your barrel in a safe direction."
"Always be aware of what's behind what you're shooting at so that you don't accidentally shoot someone. That'd be a very bad day for both you and the other person," said Estep.
And the day could also take a bad turn if you take wrong turn. So be sure to know where you are and always have access to someone outside the woods.
"We suggest at this store that you carry a cell phone on you, if not a cell phone, a GPS, or some kind of radio device. And always let your loved ones know where you're going to be," said Hutson.
Just some basic tips to keep hunters safe in the woods as the gun season gets underway.
