Volunteers with the Huntington City Mission braved the cooler temperatures Thursday morning to try to collect money for the shelter.
The cost to operate the Cabell County facility is rising and the Mission is facing a $300,000 deficit. The Mission receives some grant money, but relies heavily on the public's assistance to help run the facility.
Thursday, volunteers were collecting money from generous drivers in Huntington. On Thanksgiving, the Huntington City Mission will host their annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the community.
