A Huntington businessman's estate has bequeathed $721,000 to Marshall University.
Marshall says the gift from the estate of J. Robert Fletcher will be used to support an endowed faculty position in mechanical engineering. The endowment was established by the Fletcher family in 2010.
The university says it expects the gift to be matched through the state's "Bucks for Brains" West Virginia Research Trust Fund.
Fletcher died in May 2009. His family's business, J.H. Fletcher & Company, manufactures underground roof systems for coal and limestone mines.
