Hundreds of West Virginians will have to wait a little longer to recover from Super Storm Sandy. Mon Power is still working to restore isolated pockets left without power by the heavy, wet snow left by a hurricane and a cold front mixing it up.
Strong winds gusting over 35 miles per hour threatened to cause more problems Monday in Webster County where hundreds of trees are still poised to fall after thousands went down. Mountain counties have been slow to recover.
It was a frustrating two weeks for Mike Russell who just got power back along the Birch River. He said he could not afford to run a generator that long so he did not have one.
The storm dumped more than 2 feet of snow on some of the highest elevations in the state, toppling trees and tearing down electrical lines. At the height of Sandy, more than one-quarter million customers in West Virginia had no power.
