Here’s a chance to burn off some calories before you start the annual Thanksgiving feast.
St. Albans High School will once again sponsor the annual Nick Caldwell Memorial 5K Run. The race, scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 17, starts on the Hudson Street side of the school, winds around St. Albans and finishes back at the school.
Entry fees are $20 or $25 on day of the race. The first 200 entries are guaranteed a race T-shirt and a bracelet. Trophies will be awarded in several categories for both male and female runners.
This year marks the fifth annual run, with proceeds benefitting the Nick Caldwell Memorial Scholarship Fund. Each year, one or more deserving graduating seniors at St. Albans High School have been awarded cash scholarships. Nick Caldwell was a St. Albans High School student who died tragically in a hunting accident in 2008. He would have graduated with the Class of 2010 and this race was established in his memory.
Race director Ricky Campbell hopes for a record number of runners, walkers and spectators. “We want to continue honoring Nick’s memory,” Campbell said.
