Police say that the suspect who attempted suicide after allegedly shooting and killing a woman has died.
Point Pleasant Police Chief Ernie Waterson said the man died at about 1 a.m. Monday at Cabell Huntington Hospital. The names of the deceased have not been released at this time.
Violence erupted at a home in Point Pleasant Sunday afternoon, leaving one woman dead and the suspect in the hospital.
Police said an estranged couple were fighting inside of a home on North Main and Camden Avenue when the man pulled out a gun and shot the woman. Officers said the man then turned the gun on himself.
The woman, whose name has not been released, died. The man was transported to Pleasant Valley Hospital and then airlifted to a critical care hospital.
Police said there were children in the home when the argument started, but luckily they were unharmed.
