Young voices from 15 high school choirs across the Mountain State will join together for the First Lady's Festival of Songs later this month. The festival is set for 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Norman L. Fagan West Virginia State Theater at the Culture Center in Charleston. Each of the high school choirs will have about 15 minutes to perform. "We are delighted to welcome these talented young performers to the Culture Center to celebrate the art of vocal music," Commissioner Randall Reid-Smith of the West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts and the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission said. "The First Lady's Festival of Songs is just one example of how the Division is working to promote the arts in the Mountain State." The performance schedule is as follows: 10 a.m. Roane County High School Ensemble 10:15 a.m. Riverside High School Melodic Fusion 10:30 a.m. Nitro High School Showcats 10:45 a.m. Winfield High School General Admission Show Choir 11 a.m. Hurricane High School Red Hot Show Choir 11:15 a.m. Fairmont Senior High School Madrigal Singers 11:30 a.m. Elkins High School Vocal Ensemble 11:45 a.m. Nicholas County High School Chorus 12:45 p.m. Woodrow Wilson High School Vocal Ensemble 1 p.m. Philip Barbour High School Choir 1:15 p.m. Buffalo High School Choir 1:30 p.m. Mingo Central Comprehensive High School Central Singers 1:45 p.m. Hampshire County High School Harmony 2 p.m. Cabell Midland High School Rhythm in Red 2:15 p.m. Capital High School VIPs The Festival of Songs program is open to the public and free of charge.
