Students at Summersville Elementary School returned to classes Wednesday after a portion of a roof that had collapsed was temporarily patched.
Damon Hanshaw, assistant superintendent of Nicholas County Schools, said the portion of the roof collapsed under the weight of the snow, and the structure was stabilized Monday and Tuesday. The building houses about 350 students and is 50 years old.
Repairs on the building will not be fully completed until December.
