A donation drive was in full gear Wednesday outside the Kanawha County Courthouse in Charleston to collect food and supplies for needy families.
Representatives from Appalachian Power, the Kanawha County Commission and West Virginia American Water were collecting items as part of the “Power Up the Pantry” donation drive from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Mountain Mission, according to a news release from West Virginia American Water.
Volunteers were planning to have trucks stationed along Virginia Street to accept donations from the public in addition to donations provided by employees and the companies. Donations were expected to be delivered to Mountain Mission Wednesday afternoon.
