The clock is ticking for the end of the 2012 political season and there are some key state-wide races to keep an eye on Tuesday.
Political analysts George Carenbauer, the former chairman of WV democratic party and David Tyson, the former chairman of the state G.O.P. both say the Attorney General race is a must see.
Tyson says, "I've seen forth a very energetic campaign put forth by the republican candidate Patrick Morrisey, this time it appears he may have out worked his opponent who is a very seasoned politician."
Carenbauer says, "Darryl McGraw is a very well known name and very controversial, he almost lost twice and there's been a lot of money spent on that race on both sides. This Patrick Morrisey who's his opponent has spent a lot of money and has a lot of money coming in. The attorney general has a lot of money on his side, so that race is going to be interesting to follow."
The governor's race will also be one to watch. Carenbauer says, "I think the Governor's race is pretty sure for Tomblin. He narrowly won a close contest last year but he's done a lot as Governor the past year and people have gotten to know him as Governor and like him as Governor."
Tyson says, "I think the Governor's race will be close and that one of the seats on the Supreme Court will be close. Three candidates are poised for the second spot."
Another race to keep an eye on here locally is one for State Senate. Two new comers vying to represent the 17th District, which now represents Kanawha and Putnam because of redistricting. Josh Martin and Chris Walters and going to head to head in the heated contest.
Both Carenbauer and Tyson will be part of the Eyewitness News' Political team Tuesday night along with West Virginia Wesleyan Political Science Professor Dr. Robert Rupp. All three will provide insight and perspective throughout the evening.
