Every rose has its thorn. In this case, residents had a chance to take a rose home, thorn and all.
The Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District on Thursday offered the public free rose clippings from the Rose Garden at Huntington’s Ritter Park, a popular place to visit. The rose clippings could then be grown at residents’ homes, giving them an opportunity to start a garden of their own.
“It’s a great opportunity,” Timothy Holstein of the Huntington Park and Recreation District said. “They’re beautiful roses. They’ve done great this year, and it’s rewarding to take care of these beautiful roses that the Lord put on this earth.”
About 40 people showed up to get their own rose clipping.
