Eyewitness News has teamed up with the Union Mission to make sure that families in need in our area don't go hungry this holiday season.
Our Fight Against Hunger campaign kicked off a couple of weeks ago, and we have extended the drive until 6 p.m. Monday.
On Thursday, Best Home Medical presented a $2,000 check along with several bags of food to the Huntington City Mission. The check will be split between the Huntington City Mission and the Union Mission in Charleston.
The need to collect food for families in our area will likely increase because of the effects of Superstorm Sandy, making our efforts more important than ever.
Eyewitness News is collecting non-perishable food and monetary donations. You can drop off donations at our studios on Piedmont Road in Charleston, or at any of our partners – Best Home Medical in Hurricane or Barboursville and at any participating Foodland grocery store.
Donations also may be made directly to the Huntington City Mission or Union Mission.
Papa Johns pizza is offering you the chance to bring in a dozen canned items to any franchise location including Patrick Street, Kanawha City, Cross Lanes, St. Albans, Teays Valley, Huntington, Barboursville, Beckley and Ashland, to receive a free large pizza. That offer is good Sunday and Monday.
Eyewitness News knows this is an extremely difficult time for residents hit hard by Sandy, so please do what you can, where you can to help out.
