One person was arrested and two others taken to the hospital early Friday after a man on Charleston’s West Side allegedly threatened his father with a knife and what turned out to be a dud grenade.
John Banks, 34, was charged with making a false report of a bomb following the incident that occurred about 6 a.m. at a home on Patrick Street. Police responded to the scene and said they found a man holed up in a home with an inert hand grenade.
The bomb squad responded to the scene, and police blocked off several roads around the area. Officers reopened the 500 block of Patrick Street by about 7 a.m.
The two men who were taken to the hospital had unknown medical problems.
Banks was arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
