Three woman in Kanawha and Putnam counties appeared in court Friday in separate cases connected to sexual abuse charges involving children.
In the first case, a Charleston woman was sentenced for sexually abusing an 11-year-old. Melissa Sigman, 32, will serve five to 25 years in prison and have 50 years of supervised release when she gets out of prison. She also must register as a sex offender.
Investigators said Sigman allowed an 11-year-old to perform sexual acts on her. She also allegedly performed oral sex on him.
Meanwhile, in another case, a Kanawha County woman charged for sex crimes was sentenced for failing to find approved residence for home confinement. Tiffany Williams was sentenced to one to five years in prison. She was serving a previous home confinement sentence for failure to register as a sex offender and robbery conspiracy.
The judge, however, did say the court would be willing to consider home confinement if Williams is able to find approved residence this time around.
And in Putnam County, a woman pleaded guilty to sexually abusing and assaulting a 14-year-old.
Summer Burford was arrested last November when police said the boy's father found her and his son locked in a bedroom at her home in Winfield.
Burford pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree sexual assault and one count of third-degree sexual abuse. She is set to be sentenced in January.
