As the investigation of the former director of the Huntington Area Food Bank continues, the interim director said she hopes people will continue to support the organization and its mission.
Tiffany Tatum, interim director of the food bank, said Thursday that things have been cleaned up, and the public should not lose sight of the service the food bank provides to the community.
"I wouldn't want the (alleged) actions of one individual to reflect on our organization as a whole," Tatum said.
The former director of the Huntington Area Food Bank, Leigh Anne Zappin, is being investigated amid allegations of embezzlement, West Virginia State Police said. State Police Sgt. Greg Losh confirmed Wednesday afternoon that Zappin is being investigated and said the food bank is fully cooperating with their investigation.
Food Bank Board President Stanley Mills said Zappin gave a letter of resignation to the board in late September. Police say the investigation is ongoing and will release more information in the future.
