A Summers County man pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to possession of child pornography.
Alan L. Grimmett, 50, of Hinton admitted that on June 7, 2011, he knowingly possessed on his computer more than 600 images and videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin’s office.
The defendant admitted that he knew the images and videos constituted child pornography. Grimmett also admitted to possessing images of prepubescent minors and some images that involve material that portrays sadistic or masochistic or other depictions of violence.
In addition, Grimmett further admitted that the images he possessed were downloaded using the Internet, and the images had been shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce by means that included a computer.
Grimmett faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced Feb. 14, 2013, by U.S. District Judge Irene Berger.
