A vicious attack in Kanawha City sends one woman to the hospital, now police are searching for the man who did it.

It all happened around 10 o'clock Monday night. Police say the woman, who is in her early 20's, was walking to CVS from a friend's house on Venable Avenue.

She told police a man came up to her and asked her for a cigarette. When she said she didn't have one, police say the man then punched her in the right eye knocking her to the ground.
It's then police say the man continued to punch the woman in her arm until she let go of her purse. We're told the man then took off running and the woman had to go to the hospital.

The suspect is described as a white male with a dirty appearance, around 5 foot 8 and 140 pounds and between 35 and 40 years old. He was wearing a dirty white ball cap, light green shirt and blue jeans.
