Parkersburg police say one man is in jail, another is in police custody and charges are pending against a woman who falsely told officers her boyfriend had murdered someone.
George Parsons, 38, and Terry Abbott, 38, both of Parkersburg, were taken into custody after deputies responded to the 1600 block of Andrew Street about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. That's where Parsons’ girlfriend, Jennifer Lynn Murrey, allegedly told officers that Parsons had murdered someone inside a home at 622 Kenner St.
Police said they did not find a body, but Terry Abbott and another female were inside that home, along with two knives, bath salts and suspected cocaine. Abbott was arrested and charged with two counts of possession. Abbott remains in jail on a $2,000 bond.
While Parsons was being taken to jail, he allegedly kicked at the cage and doors of the police cruiser, officers said. He was taken to an area hospital before being taken to the Wood County Holding Facility where he was awaiting arraignment Tuesday.
Police say charges are pending against Murrey for false reporting of an emergency.
