The familiar Brothers Grimm story is presented in a new version by playwright Michele Vacca. Capital High School's Theatre Department is tackling "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Of course, most are familiar with the story. An evil queen obsessed with her own beauty decides to destroy the one a magic mirror says is "the fairest of them all." The queen orders a huntsman to take Snow White into the woods and kill her. But seven dwarfs intervene and vow to protect the girl. Izabel Dorst/"Snow White": She's been locked away for so long she hasn't seen the world so it's just like a whole new experience wherever she goes. And so she is like kind of overwhelmed by the world when she is finally set free. Members of the Capital High School Performing Arts Department make up the cast. With seven of the play's main characters fairly diminutive in stature the director had to figure out way to have them portrayed realistically by average-sized actors. Angel Moore/"Grumpy": Oh gosh, it is so hard because we walk on our knees and we have these industrial knee pads. It's very hard to maneuver around the stage and get where we need to go quickly and make sure we're not tripping over each other's costumes. It's very demanding to be a dwarf. The timeless tale of devotion, friendship and happily ever after offers an evening of family entertainment. Brittany Awaldt/"Evil Queen": We don't get paid for anything like this. We do it on our own because we love it. And I would want to do this for the rest of my life because I love seeing smiles on everybody's faces. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" presented by the Capital High School Theatre Department October 18, 19, 20 7:30 pm Capital High School Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors MORE NEWS FROM EYEWITNESS NEWS
