Fresh off the second presidential debate with challenger Mitt Romney, President Barack Obama campaigned in Athens, Ohio, on Wednesday.

The president spoke to a crowd of thousands on the College Green at Ohio University around 6:15. The presidential visit disrupted daily lives of students on campus with roads blocked and secret service agents swarming the University.

Once Obama took the stage, the crowed roared and listened intently as the President talked about his accomplishments over the past four year and his plan to move the country forward if re-elected.

Obama continued to accuse his republican rival of trying to give the American people a raw deal on the economy.

Students and members of the community packed the College Green to hear the President. O.U. student Bo Kobee is a registered republican, but says after hearing the President's message, he will vote for Obama next month. "This speech had an impact on me. I'm a republican, but I will definitely vote for Obama now."

Athens resident Sarah Johansen said, "I appreciate the things he said about women and family and I really liked his compassion."

Not everyone agreed with the President. O.U. student Sarah Pastorius said, "I'm not a supporter, I didn't vote for him and I won't, but it's nice he's hear. When was the last time we had a President here on campus?"

The last sitting President to speak at Ohio University was Lyndon Johnson back in 1964. Johnson spoke at the College Green area of campus, the same spot where Obama addressed the crowd Wednesday night.

President Barack Obama will be making a campaign swing through Athens, Ohio, on Wednesday.

The president will be making remarks Wednesday on the College Green at Ohio University in Athens, according to news release from the Obama campaign. The event is expected to begin about 6 p.m.

Obama is making a campaign swing following Tuesday night’s second presidential debate with Republican challenger Mitt Romney. He plans Wednesday to deliver remarks at Armstrong Hall Lawn at Cornell College in Mount Vernon and then make his stop in Athens.
