A body was discovered in the capital city early Thursday morning, and now investigators are trying to piece together what led to the violence.
Eyewitness News was first on the scene at Milton Street.
Police said David Jauboi Booker, 25, of Charleston was found shot and killed. Eyewitness News was told two men called 911 about 1:15 a.m. Thursday to report they found a black man dead in the alley.
At first, police were treating the scene as a vehicular homicide, but then discovered Booker had been shot. Police said Booker was no stranger to them and had been in trouble for drugs.
The two men who called to report finding the body did the right thing and they are not suspects, police said.
Police are looking for a white Ford Crown Victoria with front-end damage. No suspects have been named.
