Some people threw parties during the first U.S. presidential debate Wednesday evening.
Dozens of students and community members gathered in the Wilson Student Union on the campus of West Virginia State University.
Those in attendance spent the evening discussing the issues that are important to them this election, as President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney battled it out at the podium.
Debate watcher Michelle Barnes said this was an important part in getting the community politically active.
Barbara Hatfield, a candidate for the House of Delegates, also spoke with students and community members.
