Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies have found the woman who they say struck an ambulance and injured a paramedic, and they plan to file charges against her. Lisa Carol Walker, 45, of 176 Blue Creek Road in Elkview will be charged with hit and run, driving on a suspended license and having no insurance, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Additional charges may also be filed, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies found the white Buick Century that struck a Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority unit on the lot of the Rite Aid in Big Chimney last Tuesday. Lt. J.D. Meadows found Walker late Friday evening, and she told the officer she was intoxicated at the time of the crash and the car was illegal so she fled the scene, the release said. Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect who appeared to be under the influence when her vehicle crashed into an ambulance and injured two paramedics. The two paramedics injured in the accident that occurred 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 119 north in Big Chimney, identified as Thomas Robinson, 26, of Cross Lanes and Karrie Cunningham, 34, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Mike Jarrett, public information officer for the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, said one of the paramedics had some back pain and was treated at the hospital and released. He said the other paramedic was not injured. The Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority ambulance was turning left onto U.S. 119 north into the parking lot of Hardees restaurant in Big Chimney when a white Buick driven by a white female came across the lot at a high rate of speed and smashed into the driver’s door of the ambulance, the release said. The female suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, fled north in the vehicle on U.S. 119. Her vehicle sustained heavy front end damage. Jarrett said the ambulance authority travels hundreds of millions of miles each year without any incidents. “It’s just a shame,” Jarrett said of the accident. “We are in the business of taking people to the hospital for motor vehicle accidents, and we get a hit-and-run and have to transport one of our own people.” Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 304-357-0169. Callers will remain anonymous. Kanawha County Deputies are searching for the driver who hit an ambulance and then took off. The accident happened around 9:30 Tuesday night on Route 119 in Pinch near the Hardees. Dispatchers say the driver of a car hit the ambulance and then drove off.
