More than 40 West Virginia children facing life-threatening medical conditions will have their wishes granted thanks to a large donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The West Virginia Oil Marketers and Grocers Association presented a check to the Make-A-Wish foundation on Tuesday. Association stores raised more than $168,000 during the month of August. Wish stars were sold for a dollar in more than 600 stores throughout the state.
All the money raised goes solely toward granting the wishes of kids.
"A lot of people say we do it because it stays local, it helps kids here in West Virginia. And OMEGA's every dollar raised written on this check stays and goes toward helping wish granting expenses," Marisa Pedro with the Make A Wish Foundation said.
