Police have found a man they were looking for after they were concerned he was severely injured because of a large amount of blood they found at a Charleston apartment.
Edward Dewayne Richmond, 29, is being treated at a hospital, Sgt. Eric Hodges of the Charleston Police Department said Tuesday.
Officers found the the blood Monday after performing a welfare check at an apartment at 1300 Renaissance Circle.
A bloody apartment in Charleston has police searching for a man who may be severely hurt, and police are asking for the public's help in locating him.
Charleston police got a call around 10:00 a.m. on Monday to preform a welfare check at an apartment at 1300 Renaissance Circle.
The caller indicated they went to the apartment to check on Edward Dewayne Richmond, 29, and noticed blood by the front door.
Upon entry, police say a large amount of blood was discovered on the floor.
At first, police say, they treated the apartment as a crime scene, and could not locate Richmond.
Their theory now is that Richmond tried to hurt himself, and then left the apartment.
Police say they have not been able to locate him and are fearful of his safety, and are trying to get him help.
They were on scene most of Monday collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. They say someone has been in contact with Richmond, but they still can't locate him.
"We know that as of a couple of hours ago, someone has spoken to him, they say he appears to be as well to be expected, but we can't find him," said Charleston Police Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper.
