A man was convicted Wednesday in the murder of his wife at their Greenup, Ky., home and received a life in prison sentence.
Charles Lee was found guilty in the March 2011 murder of his wife, Leslie “Cricket” Lee, 40, according to a news release from Greenup County Sheriff Keith Cooper.
Cooper said the case was proven in court with an extended investigation from the sheriff’s department and the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
Judge Bob Conley presided over the case and set Lee for final sentencing in November. Lee remains in the Greenup County Detention Center.
The trial for a Kentucky man accused of stabbing his wife to death was scheduled to start Monday.
Jury selection was scheduled to begin in the trial of Charles Steven Lee. He is accused of killing his wife, Leslie Lanham-Lee.
Her body was found in the couple's home in Greenup. Her dog was also missing, but was later found alive in an area off the A-A Highway near the Greenup-Lewis County line.
Leslie Lanham-Lee was a 40-year-old community activist.
Commonwealth's Attorney Cliff Duvall told The Independent the death penalty isn't being sought because the case doesn't qualify for it.
