A convicted killer plead with a judge to stay out of prison on Friday.
Emanuel McCarty pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter last year in the shooting death of Michael Grady on Charleston's west side.
McCarty was sentenced to ten years in prison. On Friday, he requested to serve that sentence as home confinement in order to care for his two-year-old boy who has a heart condition.
The judge denied his request based on McCarty's violent criminal past dating back to 2004.
