Nearly two dozen fire departments in West Virginia have created wish lists through an online program to help the public purchase educational fire safety and prevention materials for fire departments.
With the help of an online tool, fire departments are now able to invite others to purchase materials they need. Similar to a modern bridal registry, Sparky's Wish List allows fire departments to register for the items they need (such as DVDs, posters and stickers), and community members go online to make the purchases, according to a news release from the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
The cost of individual items starts at $12.50, and the materials will be sent directly to the fire department.
Fire departments from across the state have created wish lists, including the Charleston Fire Department, Bradley-Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department, Triune-Halleck Volunteer Fire Department, Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department, Winfield Volunteer Fire Department, Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Department, Nutter Fort Fire Department, South Charleston Fire Department, Maysville Volunteer Fire Department and Ghent Area Volunteer Fire Department.
