A barber wrongly accused and sent away for life unexpectedly returns to dish out bloody vengeance on the men who tore his family apart.
That is the driving force behind the Steven Sondheim musical "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."
Veteran stage performer Ryan Hardiman stars in the title role 5th Avenue Theater Company production. His thirst for vengeance spills over from the men responsible for sending him to prison
to include just about anyone unfortunate enough to sit in his barber's chair of death.
And all of those bodies have to go somewhere. Mrs. Lovett's (Mary Olson) Meat Pie shop is downstairs...and soon she has all of London raving about her treats with the secret, special meaty ingredients.
In addition to the usual victims, the director is allowing local celebrities to meet a grisly end at from the blade of Sweeney's razor. Huntington mayoral candidates and Eyewitness News Anchor Dave Benton are scheduled to have a shave that's just a bit too close.
