A person has been hit by a car in Jefferson.
Dispatchers say it happened by Grumpy's Bar in shortly after 10pm Friday.
The man was hit by a Ford Focus. The impact sent him through the windshield of the vehicle and knocked him out of his shoes.
Police say 9 people have been hit by cars along that stretch of Rt. 60 over the past 2 years. Last week, a woman was hit and killed by a hearse in the same area.
Amanda Cook works at Grumpy's Bar and Grill and knew the man who was hit Friday night. Cook said, "I saw with him after the accident until an ambulance got here. It's just really sad, he's a regular here."
Cook says the man lived across the road and was going home when he was struck by a Ford Focus. Cook says that stretch of roadway is not well lit and there isn't a sidewalk. The State Department of Highways recently made way for a bike route. Cook says that's money not well spent. "I don't think a bike lane is good at all. They should've invested money in lights and sidewalks."
Police haven't released the man's name or if his condition has changed from critical.
