Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies have released the name of a pedestrian who was killed and a pedestrian who was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Cross Lanes.
Sara K. Lowery, 22, of St. Albans was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred about 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Cross Lanes Drive, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Henry Stuck, 40, was injured and was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital. He was in satisfactory condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The accident occurred when a vehicle operated by Curtis Schoolcraft of Poca was southbound on Cross Lanes Drive and struck the pedestrians in the travel portion of the road, the sheriff’s office said.
Capt. J.S. Bailes of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation. The preliminary report indicates that the driver of the vehicle was properly operating his vehicle at the time of the crash.
Bailes has reported that a witness stated the pedestrians may have been involved in some type of disturbance just prior to the incident.
