A former West Virginia doctor is seeking probation after pleading guilty to negligently prescribing pain pills.
Diane Shafer, 60, a longtime Mingo County physician, admits she prescribed pain and anti-anxiety pills to people she did not examine.
Shafer left pre-signed prescription slips at her Williamson office for staff members to hand out.
Prosecutors said she issued more controlled substance prescriptions over a seven-year period than some West Virginia hospitals.
