With gun buck season just about two months away, wildlife officers are preparing for hunters' annual pilgrimage into the woods. A Hunting Incident Academy begins this weekend.
Forty wildlife officers from 16 states will learn the finer points of investigating a hunting-related shooting.
Nine instructors from seven states will share their skills, knowledge and techniques on how they investigate a shooting incident involving a hunter.
The instructors have more than 350 years of experience and have investigated more than 2,000 hunting-related shootings.
The training sessions begins Sunday at Chief Logan State Park Lodge and will wrap up Thursday next week.
