A shadowy figure who police say is connected to the Kanawha County sniper murders is still on the loose, but authorities say they are still looking for the man.
Last year, Tito Lopez was indicted on drug conspiracy charges. Police said he is friends with convicted murder Shawn Lester and that Lester shot and killed Jeanie Patton in retaliation for drugs that her boyfriend allegedly stole from Lopez.
Thursday morning, prosecutors met with Kanawha County Circuit Judge Duke Bloom to discuss the status of Lopez’s warrant. Investigators said they have made extensive efforts to locate Lopez, searching in Ohio, Indiana and southern Texas. But so far they have had no luck in finding him.
Charleston police said they are in constant contact with federal agencies in an attempt to nab Lopez and bring him back to West Virginia to face charges.
