A Fayette County woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident. Ruth Ann Owens, was charged Thursday with unlawful taking of a vehicle, driving with a suspended operator’s license and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said in a news release. The victim was identified as the woman’s companion, Larry Gill. The sheriff said he was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center, where he was in critical but stable condition. Deputies said that Owens fled the scene in a pickup truck after the hit-and-run that occurred about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on Upper Summerlee Loop Road near Oak Hill. Owens was arrested at a residence in Minden. She was arraigned in Fayette County Magistrate Court and was released on $5,000 bond. A Fayette County man is in critical condition after deputies say a fight took a violent turn. Larry Gill, 42, of Hilltop was apparently intoxicated when he got into an argument with his female companion, Ruth Owens, 42, of Minden, who also was apparently intoxicated, Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said. That's when Owens allegedly pulled Gill out of the vehicle, hit him with it, then drug him several feet, and took off, Kessler said. It happened along Upper Summerlee Loop Road near Oak Hill about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was found in the Minden area of Fayette County. Gill remains at a Charleston hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition. No charges have been filed. The incident remains under investigation. MORE NEWS FROM EYEWITNESS NEWS
