Senior citizens in Ohio will get a chance to show off their skills in some of their favorite events later this week.
The 13th Annual Senior Olympics will take place Thursday at the Scioto County Fairgrounds in Lucasville.
Participants in nearly 60 care facilities are expected for this year’s event, with a total of about 800 senior Olympians taking to the games. An additional 900 volunteers will help make the day a success.
Opening ceremonies will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, featuring Pittsburgh Pirates Great Al “Scoops” Oliver, along with local dignitaries. Gospel music will be provided by Abby Walls. Danny Radcliff will sing classic oldies, and Brad Mastin will provide country and dance music. Other events throughout the day will include penny pitching, horseshoes, bowling, checkers, dominoes, basketball, bingo, cornhole, and paintball.
