State leaders are trying to increase awareness on bullying and the threat of teen suicide.
A high school student from Harrison County killed herself two weeks ago. School officials say it was due to bullying.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin issued a proclamation Monday morning, marking this week Suicide Prevention Week. In the afternoon, Tomblin was scheduled to talk to students at Hedgesville High School in the Eastern Panhandle.
Suicide is the second-leading cause of death of young people in the state between the ages of 15 and 24.
