A community honored the slain officers who served their community. Folks in Clay County came together to retire the jerseys of Trooper Eric Workman, who played football at Clay High School. They also retired the jersey of Corporal Marshall Bailey who played for Poca, but worked in Clay County.
Both officers were tragically shot after a routine stop two weeks ago at the Wallback Exit on I-79.
Family members of both men accepted the jerseys during halftime of one of the midget league games Saturday afternoon. Workman's jersey number is 26 & Bailey's is 84. Those numbers will never be worn again, unless Bailey's young son decides to wear it as an athlete down the road.
