Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies say they arrested a fugitive from Georgia who was carrying a gun and marijuana.
Terry W. Kirby, 56, of Convington, Ga., was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at 286 Campbells Creek Drive, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department.
Kirby was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for violation of federal probation, deputies said. Deputies received a tip to search the area for a vehicle with Georgia registration and that the suspect driving the vehicle had been brandishing a firearm.
When he was arrested, deputies said, the suspect had 13.8 ounces of marijuana and a .38 caliber revolver with the serial number ground off of it.
Kirby was charged with being a fugitive from justice, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He is lodged in the South Central Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond on the federal violation.
